Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, and British driver Callum Ilott will both make their Formula 1 debut in first practice at the Eifel Grand Prix on 9 October in Germany.
The 21-year-old, Junior Schumi will drive Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo race machine in upcoming Friday’s practice session.

Mick Schumacher: “I am overjoyed to get this chance in free practice. The fact that my first participation in a Formula 1 weekend will take place in front of my home audience at the Nürburgring makes this moment even more special.”

“I would like to thank Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and the Ferrari Driver Academy for giving me the opportunity to get another taste of Formula 1 air one and a half years after our common test drive in Bahrain. For the next ten days I’m going to prepare myself well, so that I can do the best possible job for the team and gain some valuable data for the weekend.”

Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG: “There is no doubt that Mick is one of the great talents coming through the feeder series’ ranks and his recent results have been showing it. He is obviously quick, but he is also consistent and mature behind the wheel – all hallmarks of a champion in the making. He impressed us with his approach and work ethic in those occasions he has been with us last year and we are looking forward to working with him once more at the Nürburgring.”

Removal Video Valtteri Bottas Stuck Wheel Nut 2021 Monaco GP

Mercedes F1 team revealed the footage of separating the jammed front right wheel nut from Valtteri Bottas’ F1 car at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, following the car return to the factory late on Monday.

Bottas’ right-front wheel nut stuck when the Finn made his pit stop during the Monaco Grand Prix race. After the incident, Mercedes confirms the nut was stripped by the wheel-gun, making it difficult to remove.

Mercedes F1 team chief strategist James Vowles describes more insights regarding the Monaco incident in teams’ post-race weekend F1 debrief video.

“What happened is we came on slightly angled, so when the socket was now connected to the nut, it slightly angled relative to it and as a result of that, now instead of distributing the load across all of the nut it was across a small section and that tore the metal clean off and in fact all of the metal was now removed from the nut,” he said.

“As a result of that, the nut was in place and we were unable to remove it. That’s a brief overview of what happened. Clearly, it’s a circumstance that cost Valtteri dearly and cost the team dearly and one that we are going to put steps in place to mitigate.”

“We did certain steps in Monaco to try and remove it, some during the pit stop, also some just afterwards,” Vowles said.

“Ultimately there we concluded that to remove that nut we were going to need some fairly heavy equipment and specialist equipment and that would be better done here in the factory.

“More so, it allows us an opportunity to do an autopsy on it to understand really how that nut was worn and gather some clues to allow us to do a better job going forward in the future.

“As a result of that we left the wheel on the car and packaged the car back into the truck to bring it back here directly.”

Max Verstappen and Red Bull celebrating 2021 Monaco GP Race victory

2021 Formula 1 Post-Monaco Grand Prix data shows many up and down figures of the top title competitors. Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren receive great energy to compete for the podium for an upcoming race.

Reigning world champions Mercedes has lost lots of confidence and tactics. The Silver-Arrows has been drop down from the both championships, and currently standing behind the Monaco GP race winner Red Bull Racing.

The entire starting grid gained one place after driveshaft trouble that prevented pole-sitter Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc from starting the race

Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing

2021 Monaco GP witnessed the 12th F1 career victory for Verstappen.

The Dutchman won at an average race speed of 98.073 mph / 157.833 km/h, defeating the long-ago record set by Fernando Alonso in 2007 Monaco GP.

The historical narrow circuit result accelerated Verstappen to take the lead in the Drivers’ Title for the first time in his F1 career. Red Bull also takes the top position of the constructors’ world championships first time this season.

Red Bull power-unit providers Honda have not commanded a championship since Ayrton Senna and McLaren won the 1991 F1 world championship. 80th F1 victory win for Honda engine.

Sergio Perez’s 4th place finish in Monaco for the first time since finishing P3 with Force India in the 2016 F1 season.

Bittersweet race day for Ferrari

Team-mate Carlos Sainz’s 2nd place offered the Italian F1 squad a 4th successive top-2 finish in Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren – Race with special livery and made consistent points finish

McLaren youngster Lando Norris’s P3 is his 2nd podium in the last four races. The Brit moved ahead of Valtteri Bottas in the drivers’ standings; Bottas dramatic pit-stop retirement benefitted him for the final place on the Monaco podium.

A disaster race weekend for Mercedes in recent F1 history

Lewis Hamilton’s P7 means Max now has a four-point lead over the reigning world champion in the Drivers’ title with 105 points to 101.

The Silver Arrows leave Monaco second in the constructors’ championship for the first time since the Formula 1 2018 British Grand Prix, as the German F1 squad trail Red Bull by one point.

The Finn Valtteri Bottas has Two DNF in his last four races. Hamilton has Zero retirements in his past 54 Grand Prix races.

Best race ever for Aston Martin

Sebastian Vettel’s 5th place finish and his team-mate Lance Stroll’s P8 was the best result for Aston Martin in their short F1 history. It is Stroll’s first-ever point in Monte Carlo.

Alpine F1 Team stays points hunting streak

Esteban Ocon’s ninth-place finish around the legendary Monte Carlo streets circuit gives two points for Alpine F1 Team

Alfa Romeo opened race points account

The 21-year-old Brit Lando Norris signs a multi-year deal with McLaren Racing. Norris made his Formula 1 debut at Australian GP 2019 with McLaren racing team, and he has become the most impressive driver with consistent point finishes. He achieved two podium finishes until now, the first one at the Austrian Grand Prix in 2020, and this season he set P3 at Italian Grand Prix.

“My commitment to McLaren is clear: my goal is to win races and become Formula 1 World Champion” Lando said following the contract renewal

“I’m really pleased to have extended my relationship with McLaren from 2022. Having been with the team for almost five years, I feel very much part of the family here and I couldn’t imagine starting the next phase of my career anywhere else. McLaren has been a huge support since my days in junior series and I’ve really enjoyed learning and developing as a driver since. Norris said

“My commitment to McLaren is clear: my goal is to win races and become Formula 1 World Champion and I want to do that with this team. Since joining in 2017 our progression has been consistent and we have clear ambitions together for the future.

“I want to say thank you to Zak and Andreas for the belief they’ve shown in me since the beginning, and to the whole team for giving me such a strong environment to continue my career in. We’ve already had some incredible moments together which I’ll never forget – two podiums and securing P3 in the championship – and together with Daniel and the rest of the team I’m looking forward to pushing for even more success in the years to come.” The Brit added.

Zak Brown, CEO, McLaren Racing, said:

“I’m delighted with the extension of our agreement with Lando for 2022 and beyond. He’s been instrumental in our return of form here at McLaren and we’re proud of the growth he’s shown since he first started with us back in 2017. Lando is one of the brightest talents on the Formula 1 grid and we look forward to seeing him continue to go from strength-to-strength both on and off track.”

Andreas Seidl, Team Principal, McLaren F1, said:

“Our decision to confirm Lando’s long-term future at McLaren was very straightforward. Lando has impressed us since his rookie year with his performances, and his evolution as a driver since then has been clear to see. He’s an integral part of our performance recovery plan and his record so far, securing two podiums with the team over the past year, has shown he’s a formidable competitor on track. Like him, we have strong ambitions for our future together and I’m pleased we’re continuing this journey into the next chapter for both Lando and the team. In Lando and Daniel we have a hugely talented and exciting driver line-up, and this announcement is a strong signal of commitment to the next chapter for McLaren from 2022 onwards.”
